The International Silver Foundation is envisioned as a future global home for silver — connecting all silver worlds and preserving silver's story for generations to come.

The Foundation is a proposed nonprofit cultural and educational institution being developed as the long-term institutional arm of International Silver Day.

Its purpose will be to promote greater understanding and appreciation of silver's enduring importance to humanity — past, present and future.

The Foundation will have no political or financial advocacy mandate.

Its focus will be education, culture, heritage, research, craftsmanship, science, technology and sustainability.

Preserving and sharing silver's extraordinary history, from ancient mining and archaeological discoveries to its role in civilizations, cultures and traditions around the world.

02 — Education & Research

Developing educational resources, supporting research, engaging students and educators, and building a Global Silver Knowledge Archive documenting silver’s history, science, technology, culture, craftsmanship, and role in civilization.

03 — Artisans & Craftsmanship

Celebrating silversmiths, artists and traditional makers while supporting craftsmanship through exhibitions, collaborations, educational programs and, eventually, micro-grants.

04 — Sustainability & Innovation

Increasing public understanding of silver's essential role in modern technology, including clean energy, electronics, medicine, water purification and other technologies shaping a more sustainable future.

International Silver Day provides one annual moment for the world to recognize silver.

The Foundation is envisioned to provide a permanent home for that mission throughout the year.

This is a long-term vision.

The Foundation has not yet been formally established as a legal entity, and the Museum remains a future ambition. The work begins now by developing the ideas, partnerships, research and international relationships that could eventually make both possible.

One day, the Foundation hopes to establish a permanent International Silver Museum dedicated to telling the complete story of silver.

Not simply the story of silverware.

Not simply the story of coins.

Not simply the story of mining.

But the story of silver and humanity.

A future museum could explore:

• The history of silver mining
• Silver and global trade
• Silver as money
• Silver in art and craftsmanship
• Silversmithing traditions around the world

• Silver in medicine

• Silver's role in the future

The Museum would ultimately serve as a permanent repository for artifacts, knowledge, research and stories documenting silver's extraordinary journey through human history.

The goal is not simply to preserve silver objects. It is to preserve the story behind them.

A global institution cannot be built by one organization alone.

The Foundation's future will depend on collaboration with institutions and individuals around the world, including:

The objective is not to replace existing organizations. It is to connect them.

There are already remarkable institutions dedicated to different aspects of silver. The opportunity is to create a broader cultural framework through which these diverse perspectives can be recognized, connected and shared with the world.

The Foundation's ambitions extend beyond a single organization or a single country.

Over time, we hope to develop international partnerships, educational programs, cultural initiatives, research projects and public exhibitions that contribute to a deeper global understanding of silver.

As the organization develops, it may also explore opportunities for participation in international cultural and heritage programs, including potential future relationships with organizations such as UNESCO and other global cultural institutions.

These are long-term aspirations, not current affiliations or recognitions.

The International Silver Foundation does not exist yet.

This page is the beginning of the conversation.

The Foundation will only become possible through people and organizations who believe that silver's story deserves to be preserved, studied and shared.
